Staff members from the State Attorney’s Office in Orlando travelled to New Orleans for a bachelorette party and did a little more than just have fun. The Orlando Sentinel reported that around 20 staff member friends, known as the “Squad,” took part in a weekend that included using cocaine.
The bride to be was a victim witness coordinator by the name of Shannon Solo. Victim witness coordinators work hand in hand with prosecutors in making certain that cases are ready for trial. They speak with victims and witnesses in cases with the goal of ensuring convictions on cases. Apparently, after the weekend, Solo’s fiancé broke up with her because he found out about the drug use.
The cocaine was apparently hidden in a rubber ducky. Also being used was marijuana and Adderall. In all, 6 staff members were fired including an attorney, who was apparently using marijuana at a house in Kissimmee.
No charges will be brought. In order to bring drug charges, possession of the drugs would be a necessary element to proving the case. Nonetheless, any lawyers involved could face discipline by the Florida Bar.
